How this works: Waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) is waist circumference divided by hip circumference. The World Health Organization uses general reference ranges of below 0.90 (men) or 0.80 (women) as lower relative risk, with higher ratios associated with greater cardiometabolic risk in population studies. This tool applies those general reference ranges — it does not account for your individual health history, ethnicity-specific variations, or other risk factors, and it is not a diagnosis. Measure at the narrowest point of your waist and the widest point of your hips for the most consistent reading, and talk to a healthcare provider about what your numbers mean for you specifically.
